ISO...How do I bench test this board to determine if it's functional?
Background...
A few years ago I was given a small box of repair parts by a retiring gentleman who worked at a now defunct LHS. Among the items was this circuit board with six colored attachment wires soldered to it. Inquiring through the Lionel website I found out that it's an electronic E-unit (w/o bracket), currently unavailable from Lionel.
I'm hopeful that it is functional and could be of use. Everything else in the parts box seemed to be in useful or new condition, so I'm hopeful that this circuit is, also. However, I'd like to be able to verify that in some way...I'm not 'adventurous' when it comes to circuit boards!!
The board has red and black wires soldered to H4 and H3 positions, respectively, on the board. The gray and brown wires are soldered to H2 and H1, respectively. The blue and white wires are soldered to H5 and H6, respectively, and the free ends soldered to a simple SPST toggle switch. I'm assuming that the wires are original since those abbreviated colors are printed by their respective 'H' ports.
In an online search I found out that this board was applicable to a wide range of DC motored products, so I'm presuming knowledgeable technicians are familiar with this board without posting a photo. If not, let me know and I'll have my resident photographer (wife) help me do this.
