Lionel AF Northern 4-8-4

I have 2 Lionel AF Northern 4-8-4 (#s800/809), product # 6-48054. I recently put them on a track with an AF trestle set. Both engine with tendeer cannot pull more than 1 car up the grade. The train stalls.

It does not experience the no blacklash issue that Carl Tuverson told me about.

ANY IDEAS?
