Lionel Legacy BN RS11 Amber Strobe

The strobe should work at all times not just an emergency brake application. 

I talked to Eric or Arron at Lionel support and was told according to their documents the strobe should only function on an emergency stop. In the Trains forum a former BN engineer complained about the strobe being a real distractor during night operations. Some strobes were installed on engines that had auxiliary power units and the strobe would operate if the auxiliary unit failed. 

Are there any other RS11 owners that can chime in? I have both of the BN road numbers and neither of the beacons function during normal operations. I've not tried the emergency stop function. I'd like to know how that works though! Other than the beacon, these locomotives are real gems!

On the legacy remote there is a strobe icon, hold down aux 2 for lighting menu. Not sure this is a fix. Just an idea.

OK, I can confirm that the strobe does not respond to the strobe icon in the AUX2 lighting menu, but does operate when the emergency stop function is activated, very cool!

Don’t have an RS11, but I do have the recent Alaska F7 AA set. Both A units have the amber strobe units, and, depending on direction of travel, the strobe in the lead unit always flash during operation.
