Good Morning Everyone, I hope I picked the right topic to put this under I just need some help if possible.  Last night I received my cab forward which I have wanted for years, and I think I have a problem.  I have attached a video and if you listen real close while it is running, and ignore the background talking, you will hear a little bit of a clicking noise, also when I try to go in reverse it will go for about a inch or two and then stop and go into emergency stop mode.  I have cleared and reinstalled the engine in my remote like three times and it continues to do the same thing.  I am at a loss or ideas, I have wanted this thing for years and I am frustrated cause when I get it, it doesn't work right.  Anyways, any help would be great I would appreciate it, also to all of our Veterans out there Thank You Very Much and Happy Veterans Day!!!!

Danny, BUMMER!!! I feel your pain! Lionel cab forward 6-11463 is out of the 2014 Signature catalog 7 years old. You didn't mention if it was NIB or used when you purchased it. Not that it matters all that much when it comes to Lionel warranty. Even if it's NIB it's probably out of warranty, unfortunately, unless you can convince Lionel support otherwise. If it's NIB, DO try Lionel first and see if you can convince them to take it in as warranty.

A note: Xmas is closing in and it's a very busy time of year for Lionel support. People are getting their Xmas train sets out and the model railroad gremlins have been busy the past year messing with model locomotives in their boxes. It's the only explanation for putting away a perfectly working train set and it not working a year later. ;-)

Check the all the side rod linkage to make sure everything is tight and in sync.  If any of that is sticking or binding emergency shutdowns will happen. I had a Legacy Hudson in my shop about 4 months ago that did the same thing as your did, some of the side rod linkage was not fully tightened which was causing some binding and made similar clicking noises.

I will definitely look into that, now I will admit I am not one of those that is not comfortable working on these things (just given the price) so what tools should I use and what should I exactly look for?

You are in the right place to determine the issue; hats off to this forum's members who walked me thru the rebuild of the smoke unit in my Lionel Big Boy step by step; much patience from them and pics; hats off to Lionel for all the parts; I did have to buy tools: Japanese Industrial Standard phillips drivers, Haako soldering station, Helping Hands soldering tool, wire, Youtube soldering videos.

I am hoping to find the problem and get it fixed, I have been looking forward to getting one of these for over a year and now that I do it's just disappointing a little bit.  But yes you are correct awesome helpful members on here.
