I have a powered one and a dummy. any suggestions as to how to add a fan driven smoke unit to it so they both smoke. It would only need to run off 18 volts of track power and match the smoke ouput of the powered one which is super good. Also does anyone sell smoke units separate?

Does the dummy have pickup rollers or are you going to add a tether?
Well, if you use a PS/1 smoke unit, you'll have it smoking like it needs a trip to the shop for new rings!
what do you suggest john to keep the voltage down and what is the correct voltage for a ps1
The beauty of a PS/1 smoke unit is it has an on-board controller for the smoke, so it runs on a wide range of voltages. As long as you like LOTS of smoke, you can run it off the 18V track power. A series diode would probably slow it down a bit, I'll have to try that with one of mine.
Right on John. That is one great smoke unit.

The PS-1 smoke unit runs on a 16 ohm resistor until about 12-14 volts, at which point it becomes 32 ohms (2 16 ohm in series).
Putting one large diode in series with AC input would give just half the AC wave (effectively reducing voltage) and lower smoke output. You could test out side the engine and fine tune it to your liking. G
I tried a diode, it does reduce the smoke volume, but there's still plenty, especially for a diesel.
got a part number for us too lazy to look it up?
