Anyone else run into this, I just took it out of the box today, did all the normal prep work. Put the correct amount of smoke fluid into the stack. The Engineer's side does not smoke at all, not even a peep, but the Fireman's side works perfectly fine.

I reset it twice to no available resolution.

Anything else I can try here, otherwise I'm sending it back.

I have no idea how the innards of these work but my guess is there are tubes going down to the cylinders.  I could see either a tube coming loose possibly, a kink in it, or maybe an air bubble preventing fluid getting to the heating element or a fluid bubble blocking the smoke.

Just some ideas to check for.

Thanks guys, that's what I got from Lionel too. It's either a bubble, blocked line, or the fan is stuck. I'm guessing there is a fan for each cylinder. There is plenty of smoke fluid in there.

I took some canned air and shot it up the cylinder holes several times, that didn't make much of a difference. I'm guessing it's a fan or something else blocking the line. Time to call Lionel for an RMA I guess. I don't feel like opening this thing up.

I’ve had mine open and there’s only one fan for the cylinder steam side of the dual smoke unit that produces the cylinder smoke. It’s clearly working in your case if you are getting smoke out of one side. A blockage in the tube or the Y-fitting that leads to the engineer’s (non-functioning) side is the likely explanation, but if you’ve put compressed air to it and it hasn’t cleared, an RA is probably the best course. The only other thing that occurs to me is a blockage or mechanical defect in the cylinder itself, but that’s definitely not a user-serviceable part.
