Ok I currently have a separate controller for my Bump and Go Trolley and I do not change the speed. I have an extension cord with a power strip plugged into it for 4 transformers and I want to get rid of the power strip. I also don’t want the kids playing with the speed because it crashes at 8 VAC and it runs at a perfect speed with 6.5VAC.

I know that the CW80 has an adjustable accessory terminal, but it has to be set every time the power comes on or the trolley smashes into the bumper so hard at 18.5 VAC that it flys into all my porcelain houses. There just isn’t time to adjust each time the trains come on.

What I want to do is connect to one of the three CW80 Accessory Terminals and drop the voltage down to 6.5 immediately when power is applied. So can I just add a resister or something to lower the voltage?

Absolutely NOT how it works. Once you set the accessory output, it stays there indefinitely, for years in storage even. Follow the instructions exactly to "set it and forget it".

As you know, the buttons can be iffy at times, so be sure they are all pressed firmly. Also, test your outputs with a load, preferably what you are trying to operate, for accurate readings(you will not get anything close to accurate with just a meter due to the circuit design of the CW - and with no load you will get a 17-19 volt reading all the time).

If one of yours really does put out 19 volts with a load, the triac is shorted.

Thanks again Rob.

I held all three buttons down and the green light was flashing on each one although I used a volt meter without a load. I didn’t want to take a chance on smashing my trolley again.

One transformer will not adjust at all and remember one of the CW80s stopped working completely about 3 or 4 years ago and that I had to take it apart to do some soldering to get it working again. I don’t remember all the details, but this might be the one I worked on. Anyway I’m going to put a paint mark on it so I remember which one it is.

And I don’t have any idea as to why the other will not keep its setting. But my trolley has been running just fine on the only good one and I’ve turned it on and off a number of times. I probably will not need the other Accessory Terminals because everything else I have is DC.
