i have a nicely matched condition Ives #50 series (4-wh) group of freight cars.

if Ives ever offered any of these cars as a set,

what were the options up front as far as steam outline power?

same question for #65 series freight cars (8 wheel?).

about what years were these cars produced?

i have next to no catalogs/ information about Ives.

if there are any online resources, i'd like to hear about them.

thanks...gary

Gary, the 50 series cars were made from 1901 to 1930, so as you can imagine there were many variations along the way, and they were sold in sets with many of Ives' steam- and electric-outline locomotives, both wind-up and electric, whichever was current at the time.

Best on-line source is The Ives Train Society.  Tons of photos and information.

Just for example, here is the list of cataloged sets with the 50 series cars, with the locomotives offered.

And if you really like obsessive attention to detail, this is an index to all Ives O Gauge locomotives and sets. The Ives Society guys are nothing if not organized.
