Can anyone please tell me the correct size screw that is used to secure the motors in the Great Northern Alco RS-3. They seem to be slightly smaller than a 4-40 x 1/4 inch. Also, if anyone has a wiring diagram for the motors in this locomotive that would really be great or point me in the right direction. Thanks very much for your time.

Well, they're metric screws, I believe 3mm. I'm not sure the exact length, all you need is enough length to totally engage the motor holes, but not so much that the screw projects into the motor and hits the rotating parts. If you stuff the screw in the motor mount hole, they should project 1/8" to 3/16" on the motor side.
Thank you so much, I was wondering if they could be metric. Anyone know where I might find the wiring diagram for the two motors. The loco I am repairing was missing one motor. I am not sure how to wire the new motor into the loco, thanks again really appreciate your help.
