MTH Pioneer Zephyr with Protosound Convert to TMCC?

You won't get the Protosound board sounds with TMCC command.  There used to be products that did that years ago, but they haven't been produced in a long time.

That was kind of what I thought. Is there a sound board I could use with the AC/DC Commander that will be close to what I have now?

The choices are somewhat limited, but I don't really know what the PS/1 Zepher sounds like.

Didn't Lionel make a Zephyr?  Least expensive and least hassle at this point, if it's not extremely important to you to maintain the MTH product might be to sell it and buy the Lionel Zephyr.  Solves both the sound and Legacy/TMCC issues.

Don't know exactly what it sounds like, but there is this board for a Lionel TMCC Zephyr available.  Combine that with RS motherboard and power supply and you'd have those sounds.

We paid a ridiculously low price for our Pioneer Zephyr so reselling and getting another probably wouldn't work out well.  Also, the Lionel if I remember correctly requires a minimum radius greater than what we have on our layout.

You get it from Lionel Parts, they currently list it as available.
