If you own an MTH scale depressed center flat car, can you measure the size (length and width) of the depressed section? I have a load in mind but don't know if it will fit.

2 1/2 X 6 Flat deck, however you may get more length with a tubular load or a load with taperd ends.

Silly. You are supposed to spend the money before you have the answers. Worst case: you wind up with a nice car you can't use for this project, but you can for another, and you have to buy another nice car to solve your original problem. You wind up with two nice flat cars. It's a win-win!
