MTH VO-1000 Pilots - Can someone 3D print | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I was looking at broken VO-1000 pilot and noticed it failed with clean cracks and there was no spiderwebbing typical of zinc rot. I also noticed that the steps sit out pretty far such they may bind with the pilots of any mu diesels. Maybe this is what is causing the cracking and failure over time. Anyway, is it possible anyone could create a 3D printed version that wouldn't infringe on MTH rights? Maybe MTH Parts could do it as the pilots went out of stock as soon as they were available the last time.

Maybe just wishful thinking on my part.
