Well, another project which has been a long time in the making has been
completed - sort of. Several years ago I started compiling all the New
Marx/Ameritrains paper I could. catalogs, price lists, brochures, flyers, you name it. I didn't have all of it but with the tremendous help of Steve Eastman, who scanned a ton of his own collection, we were able to at least get a fairly complete compilation together. There are over 400 pages of scans and because of the large file size it was broken down into three volumes:

Volume 1 Catalogs and Collector's Club 'Marxliner'

Volume 2 Advantage Newsletters

Volume 3 Timely Tables and Miscellaneous

1) You may need a Google password to access Google Docs, even though I enabled total web access for the documents.

2) When clicking on the link, at any time should you get a message saying 'This page has insecure content', click on the 'Don't load (recommended)'

3) Click 'Download' (upper right of screen)

4) The file sizes are too large to scan for viruses, click on 'Download anyway'

5) Choose your destination file and download

This is my early Christmas present to the Marx community. The links can be
shared by ANYONE who wants them - free of charge.

I also have a New Marx Ameritrains CTT ad compilation AND 'The Pictorial Guide To Marx Plastic Accessories' (currently a Beta version needing some re-write and more photos BUT still with 600+ pages of Marx eye-candy)

As always - Enjoy!

Many Thanx Brian. I've released the 'Pictorial Guide To Marx Plastic Accessories' to the MarxTrains Yahoo Group. It is kind of a Beta version and needs a good deal more word-smithing and more photos. I'm currently working on the update but can give you the link should want to take a peek at it anyway!

You're welcome Kev. Glad it was of some help. Steve Eastman, who's help was invaluable in putting this together, is also one of the moderator's of the MarxTrain Yahoo Group. Both Groups will be of big help in collecting & running original Marx and New Marx.

Steve,

Already a member, but I must admit I get so many emails I dont usually go through them all. I do enjoy getting them.

Ed,

I live here in Vegas as well. I do some repair work for Marty at the train engineer when I can, usually on Saturdays. Marty has spoken highly of you. If you ever get the chance stop in and let me know beforehand. I'll pick out one of my sets and bring in to show ya.
I recently picked up a prewar copper 391 eng/tender with the 4 wheel freight cars. Would love you show it off to you sometime. The copper is in real nice shape considering it was made in 1940. The boxtop is the finest condition prewar set I own.
Definately have a passion for Marx. Marty would attest to that Smile

Kev,

What a surprise! Marty's a good troop! I haven't been ANYWHERE in three years. I saw Marty & Dave Goulbourn in early 2008 and a few months later lost my job. Spent two years on unemployment and visitin' train stores just flat-out stopped! Never got back into the swing of things. Now I just tell people my keeper won't let me out :-) Say 'Hi' to Marty and Dave and the rest of the guys of the Silver State Division!!

Regarding the Ameritrains paper, I hope I got things right - if there's anything that needs to be changed/updated let me know. I'm still missing quite a few entries though. Regards - Ed

Ed, I really enjoyed going through the paper that you were able to assemble for Amertrains.

I am currently working on a revised edition. I've already broken the guide down to several separate guides vs one really big one. I've also started taking photos of things that don't yet appear in guide - mostly just color variations. When will it be finished?? Awww heck if I know, so many projects so little 'ooomph' to work on them :-)

Thank you, thank you. thank you!  How fast time slips by, making information such as this so easily lost.

This is an old string, but it fits in with my recent posts on Modern Marx. Thanks to Rich for reopening this locked string. I was reminded of this post a few days ago when my friend Barb Jones sent me a stack of documents and I found that there were about six I did not already have. I think with what Ed and I put together back in 2011, we have about 90+% of the Marx Trains catalogs etc covered. Take a look at his links, some interesting stuff.

Steve
