Hello Gents...

Just moved to Northern Kentucky ... about 15 minutes south of Cincinnati. Looking to see if there are any hobby shops and or train meets, or clubs... with in an hour or so?

I would assume any place in Kentucky, Ohio and or Indiana.

Thanks!

-Steve

Dixie Union Station about 25 miles north of Cincinnati is a terrific O Gauge train shop. Atlas, Lionel, MTH and all the fixins.

Don't know if they are still there but Johnny's in Latonia was a fairly viable source.  Can't remember the name but there was a place in Louisville where I got most of my L&N stuff.

P.S._It has been a number of years since we have been back there.

I remember Johnny's very well. I grew up in Covington KY in a place called Rosedale Park.

One thing about trains, it doesn't matter where they are going, it's having the sense to get on.

Thanks guys!!  Good info.

Welcome to the area.

I echo Bob comments on Tim's a pretty good shop and they have been very nice when I went there.

Entertrainment Junction near Westchester (Up 75) has a nice hobby shop(and a great indoor layout to visit), mostly G and HO but some good scenery stuff.

HobbytownUSA in Mason has a good supply of scenery items, and some O scale, but mostly HO and N.  Good supply of paints and scratch building supplies.

There is a modular club Queen City Hi Railers, they have a permanent location with a fixed layout, and the portable modular one as well.

About 10 or so years ago there was a place in Cincy, I think Davis trains, but its gone, right?  there was also a place in Louisville, I think elizabethtown that i got my Falls City Atlas reefer from.  Again I think it's gone.  Mr. Muffin two thumbs up.

Davis Trains in its hay day was the best store in the Midwest. I loved it and was there every week.Joe Davis had a hell of a collection as well. I always the O gauge layout on Thanksgiving weekend when he had the open house. The store was huge with a 4 man repair group, Jim Barrett was one of them..When Joe died his son cleaned up, closed the store and sold everything. I also loved going to Johnny's Toys, nice train selection. I miss Cincinnati..

Dixie Union Station, Mason, Ohio (22 miles north of the Ohio river on I-71) is a full line shop specializing in O gauge. Rocky Lane is the proprietor, very knowledgeable, helpful & super nice.

Dixie needs a bigger building. The place in E-Town moved several blocks over to the main drag, but downsized.  He did get the Atlas beer cars made for Fehr's and other Louisville breweries.

??Another one of THOSE!!??  What you want to sell is not what I want to buy!

Roundhouse Electric Trains is a fantastic stop on the east side of Louisville. They have used inventory for all scales, including O scale from prewar to Legacy/PS3. They have various scenery and railroadiana items available as well. They always had at least a couple dozen Legacy locomotives in shop.

Hobby Station is another stop in Elizabethtown, KY. They have a ton of Atlas O rolling stock available, in addition to other general hobby shop fare.

I also should have mentioned that there is a sizeable model railroading expo at the Louisville fairgrounds each year. The folks at Roundhouse or Hobby Station will be able to give you specifics.

Yes - Hobbystation is the place in Elizabethtown!!!  Great shop.
