I am building a small layout, and am using O-36 CC remote switches. Tonight one of the switches which has been running fine quit responding to the CAB 2. The LED lights and I can control it manually (turning the jewel), but not from the CAB 2. I thought maybe it forgot its address so I held down the black button, but it did not respond to that either. Since I'm using the CC feature I removed the hard wired remote control, so I don't know whether the switch would work with the controller.

Before I hook the cable back up, I thought I'd check to see if anyone else has had this happen and what the solution was.

This switch is only 2 weeks old and, as I said, was working fine until it stopped working fine.

Thank you for any help/ideas.

Since no one has responded yet, I'll give it a shot.

I would first try re-programming it under a different switch # and see if that works.

If not, try physically holding your hand a few inches over the switch and see if it works. I believe there have been antenna issues with these switches. If it works with your hand over the switch, take the back plate off and relocate the antenna wire so it's not covered up as much and that should get it working.

If those don't work, I would hook the manual controller back up and see if that works. If it does, that will eliminate a lot of possible issues.

I hooked up the remote, and that works fine. So it's just a problem with the CC circuitry. Looking at the picture of the switch with cover removed, it appears there is only one circuit board and one power connection to it, so it would seem the circuit board is getting power if the remote lights and does control the switch. Guess I'll have to take the back plate off and check the connections.

Thanks to everyone who offered help for this problem. It has been resolved (at least for now). I followed up on the suggestions to check the internal antenna. While it appeared to be fine, I reseated the connector to the CC circuit board. Whe I reapplied power it worked fine.

I appreciated the helping hand.

Good news! Now you know about the gazillion small screws.   Have fun running the trains!
