I have an Atlas NYC MDT steel reefer with two broken truck bolsters. The shaft for the truck mounting screw has broken off of both of the bolsters. Bill at Atlas said this reefer was part of a bad production run. Atlas is out of the truck bolsters and will not have any until another production run of steel reefers is run. Now we all know that could be a while.

Does any one know of an Atlas dealer that may have some atlas parts? I believe the same truck bolster is used on the Atlas O 1937 AAR boxcars.

I looked at an old Inter Mountain O scale reefer in my feet in hopes of ordering truck bolsters from Inter Mountain. They still have a few O scale parts. The Atlas steel reefers have a very different bolster design. The Atlas truck bolster appears to be diecast. The Inter Mountain truck bolster is a plastic part nothing like the Atlas truck bolster.

I hate to see my NYC MDT reefer sitting on the "Rip Track.

Thanks for your help,

Richard

 Bluelinec4,

Here are the pictures.

Here is one of the bolsters that I took off of the car. The bolster is mounted to the frame of the reefer by two screws. The shaft for the truck mounting screw has broken off of the bolster.

Here is a picture of the underside of the car with the other truck bolster still mounted to the frame. The shaft for the mounting screw has broken off of this one also.

If you have two of these truck bolsters please let me know. My contact info is in my profile.

Thanks again,

Richard
