Just wondering about the interchangeability of magnetraction axle bearings between Postwar and Modern era.
The postwar part number is 623-20.
The modern era number is 8950-20.
Has anybody tried using the 8950-20 bearings to repair a postwar power block?

I looked at the part description in the Lionel Supplement for the 8950-20 its described as a "self lub bearing" while the other part does not have self lub in the description.

I have both on hand. They are both self lubricating. They only differ by a few thousands of an inch on each dimension. I have no idea whether the difference is due to manufacturing tolerances or maybe my crude measuring tools and technique.
Maybe I will just try using a set of the 8950-20 bearings and see what happens. I have quite a few, it would be great if they work. A fair number of engines use that style bearing
