Agreed, you can upgrade if you want, but ps2 3V is perfectly fine, adjustable chuff rate, and unless you have a failure, typically the upgrade cost is just not that huge of a difference. Especially when you are talking a stacker PS3/2, keeping all incandescent lighting and original wiring harness, other than having a 4 meg memory, functionally it's 99.999% the same thing. Again, sure, I will grant you one "could" upgrade to PS3/2 (because it's not full PS3) on a Railking loco, it's kind of throwing your money away in my opinion. A Premier can more justify it, but again, in a Railking, your gain on investment is just not that good of a ratio in my opinion. Especially when yours is a working engine.

You will be able to do it from the WTIU. Sorry, I cannot 100% say from the explorer- because it is artificially crippled with what features they let you access from the app. They (MTH) for reasons that are really hard to justify in the current market, decided to tier their DCS offering - especially when sold as a starter set option- to just basically put a user in a situation forced to buy a TIU.
