John is right on the money. Usually getting there later means less seating, at least in most cases. I know the first time I attended it was packed. Got there earlier the next time, and it was packed, but with a bit more elbow room. When you leave is up to you as a great bunch of conversations can be had the entire time you are there. Peter helped break the ice the first time I was there, got introduced to John, Don and quite a few other. It is always to chill for quite a while and talk trains, gossip, and anything else that comes up.

If you think that there are no train folks there, you are on the wrong side of the bar. Last year the River City 3 Railers had a table before going to the back part of the bar. That has happened before, usually everyone is in the back later on if they weren't there from the start. Definitely have a blast, and a blast without me. I wish I could make it, it will have to wait.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank ALL of you that have kept this tradition going!  It is a testament to the great folks that are on this forum.  So many of us have bonded through the forum and the OGRR get together gives us a chance to meet in person.  I can't tell you how many life long friends that have been made because of this tradition.  I am so grateful for all of you!

Well said and so true!!

The only bad thing is the fact the place now closes at 10 pm instead of 1 am!  Now Erol and I get out of there before midnight!

That's a bad thing?

Lol...in my defense, I can walk to my hotel, but yes, it's the reason I never make any of the Friday morning events and my average arrival time to the meet is 10 am!

The worst time was the year everyone convinced me to by 1 of the 2 Y3s in PRR livery that Mr Muffins had on clearance - had a really hard time being at his booth 30 seconds after the meet opened Friday morning.  Heck, I beat him there but he had 1 engine left which I promptly purchased.  After putting it in my trunk I reclined the car seat and took a 90 minute power nap.

With the earlier closing, you can get up comfortably and be at the meet on time on Friday!

You'd think, but there's always an after-party going on somewhere!    And with me being from "Philly" and my club-mates being from "New York" I'm always the target of their abuse! lol

Thanks, Dave, I will be wearing an OGRR cap  to help you Forum folks recognize me.

The main reason I'm going to the York show is not the trains (heaven knows I have enough of them), but the people. Arnold

Arnold, it is not hard for train folk to recognize train folk. Usually we still have our badges on when we get there. It's just like wearing a hat but with your name all over it. You will be among good people(naturally). If any of the folks from the NJ HiRailers are there, be sure to talk to them if you are able between the drinks. They usually close the place(before the time of closing has changed).

Alan forgot to add, please take pictures while there, and toast to great train friends both there, not there, and no longer with us.

Haha, got that right John. Somehow I always seemed to wake up way before my alarm went off. This made me go eat breakfast earlier, and arrive early enough Friday morning to hear the music. The other time I was up early for Friday was out to Strasburg for 611 where I spotted Skip and Gary(in 2019).
