NOw that I'm  learning some stuff. I have even more questions. I research online but I like getting options or people telling me straight this how it works.  I have a 9 long by 8 wide. Outer loop is 084 mtg ps.3 chessie passenger. I am working on the inner 060 loop. 2 seperate loops.  So budget aside as I sold some high end original onesheets. I am not into  switches, interchanging tracks. I want 2 seperate loops for 2 trains. Here is we're the questions come in.

just found out in another tread I have a conventual train southern crescent 8702. So does this mean I have to have a dedicate track to run this train or can I switch  conventual back to say Dsc were I can run my proto sound.  ATM I am powering only by mth z4000.  As of writing this I have a proto 3 and a proto 2 train. Chessie and the Pennsylvania #6193 -MTH Q-2  4-4-6-4. I want the full Shabang from these. What do I need along with the 4000 to work it. I see the dcs 50-1029, it looks like another transformer with lots of button. Then I see the set with a nice remote and what looks to be an internet box. If I'm gonna do it once I want done right.  End game is to run a dedicated Halloween mikado set on switching back and forth with southern 8702 on the inner o60 loop and the outer o84 to pull my big mths and whatever large engines I may get. Can I just use the 4000 with the dcs remote and the tui like the 50-1001 set

I keep reading but maybe I just need someone to tell me to just do this. I live in NC and can't really visit to many stores to ask in person. I am driving distance from little choo choo shop, train loft and chucks trains but still thouse are somewhat far away

Since you have a Z4000 and a TIU, you have what you need.  One handle of the Z4000 can power the inner loop in conventional mode.  So speed is controlled by the handle and you have DIRECTION, WHISTLE, and BELL buttons on the Z4000.  The other handle of the Z4000 can be set to 16-18VAC to feed the Fixed1 banana jack inputs on the TIU...and the Fixed1 banana jack outputs feed your outer loop.  This gives you DCS Protosound PS2/PS3 command control using the DCS/TIU remote handheld.

As an alternative for the inner loop, you can use one of the two Variable channels on the TIU to control your inner loop engines running conventional.  In this case you use the DCS/TIU remote handheld instead of the Z4000 handle and red/yellow/white buttons.
