I’ve got new triarcs coming ups after lunch . Got the old one out . Tried @ gunrunnerjohn’s method of forceps on each leg & desoldering using good ole’ gravity .😁 Came out clean !
now , to get the new one back in . This will be a huge confidence builder ( provided the light works )🤣
Everything else is intact + it’ll give me a spare R2LC .

Well, putting the new one in is easy once you have the old one out and the holes cleaned up. Just orient it the same as the others and slide it down to the same height. A little bit of solder and some wire nippers and job done! 
Yeah , I put one in , and re-wired the headlight lead back to the board ( had it wired for “ always on”), but , after resetting the R2LC , no headlight on and off . I know the board wire is good and the rest of the wire going to the H.L is good .
I have had a couple R2LC boards over the years that have light, smoke, or coupler failures that are not the triacs. After replacing the triacs , nothing changed. I chalk that up to the processor probably having a bad output, I give up at that point.

This may be a stupid question but is there any chance the AUX 2 switch has been toggled to shut the headlight off in the R2LC? 
Have you tried a feature reset (AUX1, 0)?
