Paigetrain,

From following you past posts on these forums, I assume that you badly want an O-Scale model of this EMD SD70ACe-T4 & hoped either MTH or Lionel would offer it soon. I work for Caterpillar, the company that owns EMD at this time & just came across this news that Diecast Masters, the company who make 1:50 scale model of Caterpillar machines is coming out with a 1:87 Scale (HO-Scale) of this EMD SD70ACe-T4. It will just be a static model, with even fewer features than a dummy / unpowered model but I thought I would let you know about it.

Here is a video (at 1:26 mark) & a photo from Cranesetc.co.uk, taken at the 2017 Nuremberg Toy Fair in Germany, an interview with Diecast Masters, that describes this model.

These are just my opinion.

Thanks,

Naveen Rajan

The external differences between the planned T4 engines and the current real SD70ACs based upon the above photos does not seem to be significantly different.  I read somewhere that the EMD T4 engines would not be ready to hit the rails until 2018.  I find it very difficult to tell at a glance the difference between modern diesel engines.  For example, the AC and DC engines often use the same car body with only minor differences in the location of vents, etc.

Demonstrators have been out for almost 6 months roaming about the countryside painted in several road liveries but lettered for EMD.

I know what you mean about telling them apart,  I'm the same way with steam.  There are big ones with lots of drivers and little ones with less, other than that they all look the same to me.  A big horizontal cylinder with a cab at one end and a funnel at the other with a lot of senseless stuff hanging about.
