The usual suggestions I imagine.

 

First, do a locomotive reset as per the user's manual.  For older Legacy, there will be an AUX1 code, for newer stuff it's just setting the TMCC ID again.

 

Next, check the volume control and run it back and forth a few times to see if it's just flaky.

 

Finally, you'll have to open it up. I'd first re-seat the TMCC board and connectors to the main board.  Check any plugs for secure seating.

 

If you have a spare 8 ohm speaker, you can see if the speaker has died.

 

If none of this works, it may be time for a repair depot trip.

You have a newer Legacy with the RCMC boards.  I have done a few of those and it sounds like a defective Railsounds Lite board.  Do all the tips John gave you first.  If none of those work, call Lionel.

 

One last one, you will see three wires going to the volume pot.  Follow those to the RS Lite board and pull and reseat that plug firmly.
