Photos compare two 4-6-0 ten-wheeler steam engines. Both models are 1:48 scale. The smaller engine in front is an On30 narrow-gauge model by Bachmann – the larger engine behind it is an O gauge MTH Premier PRR G5s. The narrow-gauge locomotive is about the size of a switcher engine. It is small because it was built to run on a full-size track gauge of 30 inches compared to 56-1/2 inches for the G5s. The cabs are of similar size but note the differences in driving-wheel diameter, boiler diameter/length and tender. The On30 model is sitting between the center and an outer rail on the O gauge track. I find these small 1:48 scale models fascinating.

Happy SWSAT everyone! Wow some great pics already. Buzz is showing off what little I have of my Menards cars. The one on the point is my first ever Boxcar O scale  I bought in 2015 the next one my wife bought for me yesterday and the last is one I Custom paint back in 2015 enjoy your weekend 

Great pics, just finished wiring up our switching section of the layout.  Doing some test runs with a SW1500. I have a few changes to make before scenery.

Late to the game this morning. Doing a bunch of little jobs around the house. 

You all are looking good, as usual.

if you have been following the San Fernando Wildfire the past two days, we are about five miles north of it. It never endangered us, but crept into the Southwest corner of our Santa Clarita Valley. 

The I-5 and SR-14 were closed yesterday blocking all easy access from northern California to the south. The many folks I know who commute to L.A. proper from here got the day off yesterday - no way to get to work. 

Many homeowners have lost their places to this fire. Please pray for them. At least the loss of life has been very minimal so far and the fire has been contained at 7,500 acres. The freeways have mostly been reopened now. A lot of damage to wildlife in our natural areas of the Santa Susana Mountains, though. Sad. We have a whiff of smoke now and then but that’s all  

The Santa Ana Winds have died down today and that makes fire suppression much more manageable. 

Great thanks to our firefighters!

In case you haven’t seen them yet, here are two of the new MOW cars from Lionel, the Tool and Crew cars.  Nice!

Also the new BN covered hopper released a couple of weeks ago.

Time to tie it down for the night. In the AM the crew will run this train to Interchange and see what awaits them there for the return to town.

Here's a lonely, old Laurinburg and Southern engine I found one fall day, 1998.

Great stuff as always guys!  I walked downstairs a minute ago and found these guys having a meeting....

I’ll have to keep an eye on this...that blue one with the black cab roof has a history of causing confusion and delay.

Thanks coach.  That’s the Halloween layout I built in 2017 as an excuse to learn how to do foam work.  
Look up a thread called Halloween 2017 for how it came together.  The base is 2” pink foam board.  I need to finish getting the pieces gathered up for this year.

Me, too.  However, I don't model On30 but would buy several if they were offered in standard gauge - especially if equipped with TMCC or Legacy.  I'll bet others would, too.  C'mon Bachmann, get into Overdrive!
