This time of year always hits me when Thanksgiving rolls around again, the days are short and Christmas is on the way.  It is the time of year that I think about toy trains the most.  Remembering a time from years ago the 50's and 60's when I was a child  opening up a Marx set on Xmas morn or running my older brothers Lionels. It was the time when I did'nt care if the tender of the steamer was adorned with Lionel Lines or Allstate. Setting up a loop of track and watching the train chase it's tail for hours!  Now at 57 I set up that loop and put on a train with no prototypical importance and turn off the lights and watch it chase it's tail for a few hours. And for those few I can be back in time when even the small loop of track was an empire!
