Can anyone determine if the smoke lifters on the UP are removable?
I just looked and if you use a tiny screwdriver at a slight angle, they mount with two screws you can reach from over the gap between the boiler and the shield.
I received my lionmaster Western Maryland challenger about a week ago and love it. I read on here for some hours before deciding on a non scale unit and it seemed everyone on the boards said Lionel did the best job of scaling these down.
My only question is on the Western Maryland unit the front of the boiler is not silver as depicted in the catalog. I contacted Lionel and informed that it was probably a production change. Does anyone know the correct paint scheme? I searched online but couldn't find a real pic of this actual locomotive.
