GGG, you're free to believe whatever you like, but the 691-DCDE-B01 is the EXACT same layout as the Cruise Commander M.  I hardly think that's a coincidence.  Every component is in the same place, pretty hard to imagine that happened by accident.

It may have slightly different firmware, as one is S00 and the CCM I have in my hand is S01.

I called and asked about it.  So again, it is not the ERR board and there are differences in firm ware and features.  Lionel had one or 2 engines that used this board.  Declaring it is the same by looks isn't appropriate.  They have 4 prior models that aren't even available.  I am sure it will work, but the story is there are differences.

How can you declare it is the ERR board and Lionel is using them in production?  Is that fact or supposition?   The engine I found it with is a 2009 vintage I believe. G

The 691-DCDE is a Cruise Commander!  The code varies a bit, but very minor.  Much of the ElectricRR tech ended up in the Lionel product line, as the tech came with me to Lionel.

Jon,  I stand corrected.  When I asked I was told it was different and only used in few engines.  How many Lionel Engines are using this?  Does it work as a replacement for an Ody board?

Since the Technician course hasn't been held in 3 years, could you put together a Engineering course and teach what is going on with the tech.  Things like what are all the different firmwares for, why so many different DCDR models, what the various outputs are,  etc....  G

It is interesting, the boards are black not green and there are far more software versions on Lionel website.  I wasn't disputing it was based off the Technology.  But I was told there are differences (not the exact product).  If there isn't any significant differences the Lionel parts are cheaper by $15 to $20.  I thought Lionel had those Legacy RS Lite boards first, and now ERR is selling versions.

Sure would be nice to get a posting of what the various software differences are both in Drive boards, Sound Boards, etc....  G

Lionel boards all seem to be black now a days even the smoke.  Only the very early ACDR and DCDR where green.  I was mentioning Legacy Lite preceded the RS Commander.  ERR new RS Commander boards look like the Legacy Lites with a few less connectors.  I agree Back EMF seems to have been ERR design.

Lionel has about 7 or 8 Mini CDR like boards with various revisions.  If you use RCDR as a search they all pop up.  IF you do 691DCD you go insane trying to figure out why all those different variations where needed for a DC motor.

As a note, a few years ago, if you typed a part number in, every engine that used that part would pop up.  That has been suppressed now.  It was a handy tool for figuring out what a part was used for, and then cross search the wiring diagram from the service manual website.  Wish Lionel would allow the search engine to do that. G

In the case of the HHP-8, I had the MiniCommander 2 in stock and it was the exact replacement and worked properly, so it was an easy decision.

For the RailSounds Commander, I was talking about the previous one that was developed by ERR.  This Lionel product looks a lot like it.
