Ladies & Gentlemen,

At one of my favorite antique shops today I saw a Lionel TMCC Pa Steam Engine & Tender for sale

for $250.00 firm, it was locked under glass so I could not get to the box to see the exact name on the engine.  I am new to TMCC/Legacy and although the engine looks to be in prime shape I did not know enough about it, to purchase the engine or not.  In the next day or so I will probably be going back out there, and will take my digital camera along.  Is this engine something I should be considering or not?

Rick O,

I will try to get out there ASAP and get you some pictures to look at.

Gunny,

There is a sign on the glass case saying it is, however when I go back out I will have them take the Lionel box out of the back of the glass case, so I can read & take pictures of it.  It looks like a well kept engine & tender.  Although I am just getting into the TMCC/Legacy I have been doing a lot of reading and seeing some of the problems the members have from time to time with their TMCC engines, I really do not want to purchase somebody elses problems, however if this is a good engine, at a good price, maybe I should consider purchasing it.

Pete,

Thanks for the advise, I was planning on doing just that, if the board members thought it was something to look at, more closely.

If this was a MTH P2 engine, I would have purchased it already, being new to TMCC/Legacy I was unwilling to take a chance on it being worth the money being ask.  Everything I have ever purchased out of this particular antique place, has been perfect

including a Lionel ZW transformer, for about 1/2 what it was actually worth.

Dave, when you get the item number you can also go to lionel.com, under products, find Product Finder and type in the number. If it comes up it will tell you most of the info you are looking for. Sometimes it will say in the text if it has Odyssey but other times you have to download the owners manual to verify that. There should be a link to the manual on the same page as the item.

If the item doesn't show then likely its over 15 years old. Not all of the engines made before 2000 are listed.

Gentlemen,

Well this entire thing turned into a bust, the engine is not Lionel at all, MTH with 1st generations sound and whistle, way over priced, it is a P1 engine & tender. The guy was remaking the sign when I left there this morning.  Now he wants $290.00 for it.

I thank ever body who tried to help with this look see!  Ofcourse I passed on the P1 Engine.
