TMCC to Conventional Classics

Lionel has at least a couple of TMCC compatible Trainsound boards for diesels. The horns are different. You would also get the bell. You would exchange it for the conventional sound board in the Conventional classics series. One wire would connect to the serial data output on the radio board after you replaced the conventional reverse unit board.

Chuck, do you have an example?  I didn't think you'd get TMCC control with the TrainSounds board.

There is a special Trainsounds board for TMCC control. I thought there may have been a couple, but I think there is only one. The part no. is 691-ISND-107. It has a nice single chime honker and a bell. This would work great for the Rectifier. For the GG-1 you might try removing the chip from the one you have and try it in the 107 ISND board, but I don't know if that would work.

The GG-1 has a single chime horn, right?  This board may be a decent match, better than no sound!  I never realized they made a command version of the Trainsounds, that might be useful for small motorized units for sound.

Do you have a wiring diagram of how this would be connected to the serial data and power?

Boxcar Bill added sound and TMCC to my GG1 with pullmor motors and no sounds at all and did a super job.

It's no problem to add a full TMCC/RailSounds package to the GG-1, my personal goal is a smaller sound package to add some sounds to other units without the full RailSounds package.

The 2 pin connector is power and ground, the 3 pin connector is for the volume pot, the remaining 6 pin connector is for the speaker out, and the serial data in. You would want to use wire harness no.650-2471-013 for the speaker leads and data in.
