Weekend tinplate photos/videos 10/18/18

Some time ago I trade some extra pieces for that loco. The deal was fair and even if I am not a specialist of British locomotives I founded that one nice to add to the collection. It is a gauge 1 loco of the Sir Gilbert Claughton type and it runs on three rail tracks, just need to have wide curves. I think in a near future to modify it to run on standard Marklin tinplate tracks by eliminating the rim on the center wheels and to buy some Bing LMS passenger cars.

I don’t know who have done that model, maybe a homemade one, and would be very happy to learn about it. It seems many models have been made in Great Britain based on kits.

DANIEL: NICE acquisition!  

Last week on a train swap meet I found this small tinplate goods station with platform and sliding door at one side. It is marked KBN for Karl Bub Nürnberg and it was made around 1930 for 0 gauge. Dimensions are 12 * 11 * 10. The lithography is rather dull (or realistic?).

American Flyer wide gauge 4644 Boxcab and 4021 Caboose on the Flyer 211 bridge. I have no place for it on my layout but it looks great on the top of a bookcase.

A couple of York Flyer pickups. These have the Type X curly Q couplers. The crane will be an upgrade to what I have and the searchlight car is one I did not have. The only type X I'm missing is the Borden Milk car.

No York for me.  So I spent some of the travel money on a new 400E (11-1051-1).  I bought a "brass" version earlier this year but returned it when I discovered MTH didn't use brass trim (11-1052-1).  This is the nickel version which is indeed nickel.  Go figure!  Anyone have nickel comet cars they want to sell? 

You cannot go wrong with NICKEL trim! Brass and copper "age" with an oxidized patina which I personally dislike. Only my MTH dark green 408E has brass and copper trim. My dark gray Lionel Classics 2-400E has nickel trim and looks the same as the day it came to market! Patina is OK if you have collectibles.

Some videos of my Ives 8-car standard gauge freight train on the layout, this time with one of my favorite standard gauge locomotives, an Ives 3243R, at the front. Also some photos of the 3243R together with an O gauge Ives 3255R in the same orange color. Enjoy.

I am within 25 minutes of York, and once again had to work.  That’s okay, a little bit of overtime will cover the bids I have in with Stout’s!

For this weekend we have the rest of the tinplate cookie tin style buildings my darling wife ordered.  These were a package deal and she really wanted the town hall.

Anybody here pick up that Thomas Shawnee loco on the Bay? Went pretty cheap, probably because the seller did not know what he had. 

Missed it I was watching but missed the end.  I would have bid a few $$ more than it went for.

One thing that separates a really good tinplate tin building from an average one is the 3 dimensional quality of the roof structure ... and this Town Hall is a winner!
