Time to hunker down here in Northwest Iowa and work on adding light to the dummy engine of the Alaska Alco set I got last month and keep plugging away on some scenery on the layout. Enjoy the trains!
That is some monochromatic weather, I must say. Do you even bother with color photography around there in the winter?
The South end of the same storm, and it's hard to photograph wind. I'm wearing shorts. This is west, and the tornadoes (and rain) are still a couple of hundred miles that way in Louisiana. If they could stay there, that would be fine.

Two of my chores as a kid in Minnesota were mowing the lawn in the summer and shoveling the sidewalks in the winter. I NEVER complained about mowing the lawn, thinking to myself, "at least it's not winter so the sidewalks don't need shoveling."
Bob it's hard to think about a blizzard when it's 82* in Baltimore right now.

Cabinet Bob,
Absolutely agree play Trains and Grouse hunt, in the snow! Got to use both the little Boys toys and the big boys toys, when it snows.

Southern Minnesota should get slammed the next two days with proverbial "white stuff". I'll need a steam locomotive to clear the driveways tracks. Your followers will happy to know I am spending indoor time working on details of the LCCA "Top Brass" Membership Raffle.
Haven't entered yet? LCCA members should check the club web page. Photo is a teaser I took with the raffle billboard insert in the background. Snow days are perfect for indoor dining room diorama pics. Got to finish before the wife serves-up my HOT dinner. Wishes to all who are high and dry. Summer may arrive one day?

70 here in upstate NY Friday,60 today, winter weather advisory tomorrow night, snow, sleet, freezing rain! I have such a raging case of Spring Fever I may have to be restrained if Spring doesn't get here very soon! LOL
BTW, layout looks great Dad!
Trains are a perfect way to occupy yourself when there is a blizzard or snow storm outside. Of course the snow must be removed on our 125' driveway with the tractor and the walk shoveled. Outside of that its basement time, unless the power goes out and it becomes generator time.

watch youtube train cam at division street while the blizzard is going on in St Paul,Mn while in shorts in AZ.
apparently Mother Nature is not done messing with the snow belt states just yet!
What do you do when there's a Blizzard ?
When it snows here I have one of two decisions to make...
1) walk across the street to my crappy job and work a minimum of 12 to as much as a 16 hour shift or...
2) shoot myself in the face...
with each passing year the latter seems more feasible...
Thank God I'm leaving for York Monday night...after this winter I need this one !

With any luck - we are stuck in Palm Springs, CA.
MLINDBERG - Nice to see you are from NW Iowa as I am as well. Perhaps you could e-mail me at the e-mail address in my profile and we could meet some time. Not many NW Iowa Forum members that I'm aware of. I would have e-mailed you, but no e-mail in your profile. Didn't mean to hi-jack the tread, just attempted to meet a fellow forum member.

When there is a blizzard in April...
Eat ice cream, operate toy trains, and throw snowballs at human snowflakes who believe in global warming...
PCRRDave:
Wow... LOVE the side-by-side double barrel!! Grouse hunting sounds like a ton of fun. I used to hunt quail decades ago and really enjoyed it. Grouse would be like quail on steroids.
TSHEARER:
Got a kick out of that forecast!
All fer now.

You know it’s bad outside when they close Wisconsin.
Wisconsin is closed!
Close to 80 in NY/ LI yesterday- 40 today. No snow in the forecast at least for us.
Sorry fro you guys in the upper mid-west. At least we all have a good indoor hobby to occupy ourselves.
You know it's been a long winter when the Weather Chanel in up to X with storm names.
How to get to my train building? Hmmm, wish I had that problem!! LOL
PCRR/DAVE, wish you hadn't posted that picture of a grouse, my German Shorthairs have been pointing my phone all day! LOL
you know Dad, if you get stuck in the train building you can always run trains while you find or make more room on your Menards Layout! I think from the pictures in the upper right corner of the table you could remove some trees for a future Menards Building!
On the Lionel layout you could hook up the track cleaning car and run that around and around ! by that time it might stop snowing!
You know Dad, if that doesn't work. Just grab a lawn chair, start up the BBQ put a steak in and have a cold COORS light!
