An odd thing recently happened to two of my transformers, a 1033 and TW - after running trains normally for quite some time the speed steps have suddenly reversed, i.e. turning the handle just past the "Off" position the trains jump to maximum speed and then slow down as I move the handle from slow to fast. Any thoughts?

Is it happening on both transformers at the same time?

The 1033 a few weeks ago, 2 days on the TW. Thought maybe short circuits on the track might have caused it, but there’s been years of that happening and can’t explain how that would cause the speed steps to be reversed.
Do you have pure sine wave at 110 to 120V out of the wall outlet?
He can test the voltage with a voltmeter.
As far as the "pure sine wave out of the wall," he would need an oscilloscope to do that. Plus an isolation Transformer to make it somewhat safe.
