I would like to see them do a stock car or a flat car with a trailer.

Scale gondola. Lots of options for loads.
Tom
A depressed flat with part of the boiler, wheels, railroad ties, and all weathered. :0

I would like to see a refrigerator car with eight roof hatches.
I'd like to see some scale high capacity tank cars! I'd jump on a couple or cases of these in a heartbeat!

Do a type that hasn't been done in O, such as a Thrall or a Greenville style.
Vat car open and closed.
2nd hoppers for a grain train.
also how bout some scale boxcars?
I want steam era cars......a single dome tankcar, and two bay hopper, but they'd have to design some earlier trucks for them, so I am not holding my breath.
Have they done cabooses?!!!
Always a fan of black tank cars....the more the merrier.
I second a SCALE, steam era stock car.
Has ANYBODY, excepting O scale brass (and, of course, HO galore) ever done a plain black, GATX or UTLX single dome pre-WWII tank car? No Lionel, MTH, Weaver, Williams, K-Line, Crown, Kusan, nobody?
I love to see more of the scale flat cars with more scale loads/ military, commercial,
And please go find some scale molds of other cars/ boxcars, reefers, hoppers, and of coarse a scale 8000.single dome tank cars.
Tanks alot.

Weaver made those cars, I wonder who bought them, and if they are available.
I'd like to see some reefers. With their prices it would be affordable to have a long string of PFE reefers for our Big Boys, Cab Forwards, etc.
Make some circus stuff like K-Line use to do. I would buy it. RB&BB would be nice

Lionel has those dies, but I don't know if they'll offer the hoppers again, unless they decide to offer a cheaper scale line as Atlas does with their Trainman line.
Dear Santa, I would like some CNW boxcars, covered hoppers, any road tofc's, some NS rolling stock, any kind and cabooses, starting with a military version! Thank you Santa for the many Alaska offerings and the nose art boxcars!
A Herman's sauerkraut vat car.
BTW Does anyone know who owns the K-Line molds?
Any thing scale WWII.
Alan
Scale size 36 ft wood reefers......endless possibilities!! Usable for the scale guys....small enough for the traditional guys. Same for early steel 2 bay hoppers......36ft MANY roadnames possible. I'll buy a ton of them!!!
Well, Atlas has made some 36' reefers, BUT they are not in the Menard's price range.

Opps, well maybe Lionel would sell them to other manufacturers and importers such as,,hhhmmmmm lets see...maybe....Menards!
Just a thought

I should have stated a Rail King level detail, simplified, with Menards price. The Atlas are great, have 2, but a fleet??? Can't do it.
Don't think this one's been mentioned yet. How about some baby madison passenger cars? I know fright tends to be more popular with folks, but it would be a nice addition to the line up.
Thank you, for all your great ideas. I'm sure Menard's will see this post. Hopefully, they make a lot of your suggestions.
40ish single dome black tank cars

I second that!
I would also like Intermodal cars with containers. (Union Pacific and BNSF)
Alex
50ft hi-cube boxcars
I'd love to be able to put together a long, steam-headed log train w/ 40 ' skeleton log cars fully loaded (not "shorty " log cars) but at current market prices for existing product I just can't raise the investment capital. Perhaps Menards would come up with something for the traditional operator in this railcar. Even if they were "scale" size, I could use several, and perhaps there are a few scale operators who could use them also. $50 to $60 dollars a pop for currently available items is a deal breaker for a few of us, but with Menards history of pricing, perhaps skeleton log cars could become more affordable.

Jim,
1st let me say this, for the price we are paying for the fantastic WWII Commemorative Box Cars Menard's is doing a great job with the Box Cars they are now offering. The new Coper and Military Vehicle Flat Cars are now serious stuff also. IMO Menard's could offer a Premier Box Car line, for just a few dollars more, with the Atlas type Premier detailing, it would be great. In my case I would love to have the original 2 tone Wood Side, Wellsville, Addison & Galeton Box Cars offered by Menard's. I would purchase 6 different numbered box car in a minute. Where do I order?

hello Jim, hope you are doing well. Miss seeing you at your former train shop.
A couple of years ago you sent me a list of "do wop" songs; if you still have it , please resend.
Thank you

The American Car & Foundry ACF Center Flow 4600 Cubic Foot Capacity 3-bay covered hoppers, because they were very common between 1965 and 2005, plus many of them are still in service today.
Union Pacific, Chicago & North Western, Soo Line, Santa Fe, Burlington Northern, BNSF are railroad schemes that can be seen on them now.
It can be made in full O scale with molded on details to be reasonably priced.

Something "Friendly": SP, SSW, PE, TNO. Ok, PFE is half Friendly. 50:50 SP/UP split.
Would love to see more military cars such as sleeper, kitchen and hospital cars.
REA Express cars or Reefer express cars. Stock would be fantastic too.
Also diecast commercial trucks from the 30's-1960's in 1:43 scale. That would be sweeeeeeet!!!!!! They nailed the duece & 1/2. Now just build more commercial style trucks.
A semi scale version of the Gunderson MAXI-IV Well Cars. I would like if they could handle 0-31 curves.
Gondolas and flat cars
Gundersons get my vote. Can't get enough of them.
I would like to see something unusual like the built up woodsided cars like the SP used to pull sugar beets from the fields in SoCal to the processing plants in Manteca and Tracy CA. I remember 150+ car consists in my younger years.
Since Menards seems to like making military loads I would vote for some USMC branded items as well as other military branches.
Hasn't been done in O scale yet:
Corrugated gondola.
Also a 62 or 65 foot gondola.
Corrugated Gondolas have many subtle variations, so an average rendition will have to be made.
The Great Northern corrugated gondola was made in N scale by Trainworx.
This is a more recent corrugated gondola built for BN, now BNSF.
The Chicago & North Western, Missouri Pacific, and Southern Pacific have Greenville Steel Car corrugated gondolas still operational on railroads today. This gondola was made in HO scale, so it should be possible to make an O Scale model.
I'm in for a steam era 2-bay hopper and a black single dome tank. Madison style passenger cars too.
There were many Union Pacific corrugated gondolas painted yellow that can be made in O scale.
ExactRail produced the Gunderson 2420 Gondola in HO scale.
The 1980's and 1990's Chicago & North Western colors and graphics on a Gunderson corrugated gondola.
ExactRail made it in HO scale. Please make it in O Scale.
Jim,
I am greedy, I would like to see more Military Rolling stock, maybe this time the US Navy WWII Seabee Work Train consist, now that would be way cool!

A lot of these suggestions have never been done in o-gauge, which leads to the conclusion that Menards would have to work up brand new tooling.
Are all of their freight car offerings thus far from old tooling (k-line or wherever) or did they actually tool up new dies for flat cars, etc?
I would love to see some New haven stuff or maybe some freight cars with only the reporting marks so we could add our own R.R. names . Just a thought.

And those trains carried 1,000,000 passengers per train: FLIES!
A Milwaukee Road transfer caboose would be nice.
There were Transfer Cabooses made in HO and N scale by Bluford Shops and Fox Valley Models that have not been mass produced in O Scale.
Fox Valley Models has announced new N Scale Transfer Cabooses for the Milwaukee Road.

Menards can send an HO scale car to their manufacturer to copy. The gondola I mentioned does not have too many added details and would be a good choice. Plus, All of the other manufacturers are dragging their feet.
FYI, Weaver made the 4 bay version of the ACF centerflow hopper- NOT the 3 bay version.only Lionel and MTH did a 3 bay version.

Everything so far have been clones of existing postwar-style (traditional-size) cars, with slight variations (such as the open stirrups on the 11" flatcars). The one exception to date is the long flatcar (note that even those have not been described as "scale" in any official marketing materials).
I'm guessing that one criteria for items added to the lineup is the ability to negotiate 031 curves, as prior to the introduction of the long flatcars, it was asked what was the longest carbody that could still round an 027 (or 031) curve.
I do notice that 'Menards' has liked this topic

I could use the drop bottom gons....have looked for the MTH ones.... and those logging cars requested above...but, hopefully not with those three spring modern trucks...for me you could put archbars on the logging cars, but Bettendorfs will work, too. (or I will have to change everything out)
Anything BN or BNSF LOL. You guys one the east get everything!
With RMT no longer around, my vote would be for ore cars
I'd like a flat auto carrier with two police cars, each car with working red/blue police lights on top. A flat car carrying a large construction vehicle with flashing safety lights (yellow?) would also be very cool. I like their flat cars with vehicle loads with working lights. I like these products because they are a sharp distinction from the more common box and gondola cars. I have the F-150 security truck with working headlights and taillights and it is one of my favorites. I understand there is a flat load with a lighted ambulance, but I have not seen it in action.
old school post war style single dome tank cars.
