Will a new Legacy Engine work with Legacy v1.5?

I ordered a new Legacy engine from the 2019 catalog and today I bought a #990 Legacy Control System off-the-shelf at my local train store with the version 1.5 software. My question is will the engine work with the older software until I can download the new software? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
