York..is the up coming oct event open to the public or does it start with the spring april show?

Friday & Saturday,  the dealer halls only. It started last April.

That would mean that the public is allowed on only two days but is barred from all but two halls.  You must pay $50 to join the TCA to gain access to the other five halls plus pay a $13 show admission.

Not necessarily.  If you've never been you can go as a guest and just pay the show admission to get into all the halls.  You may use this option only once.  If you haven't yet and know someone who is going and wouldn't mind signing you in as a guest it's a good way to see the entire meet.   The fee is actually $22 since it is after September 5th (not $13....and the advance fee is $14 not $13).

Last I knew, there were people at the registration desk who would sign people in as guests.

Also, although it may be too late for attending this month's meet, you can get a trial TCA membership which is good for 6 months and will allow you to attend any TCA meet including York (must pay the meet admission fee).  But you can't take a table to sell trains during the trial period.

Dealer halls only.  Is there a map listing what dealers/exhibits are in the Dealer Halls?  Are there any layouts to see in these halls?

The Eastern Division publishes dealer hall charts on this page.  They usually update it around a week before the meet, but most dealer/vendor/display locations remain the same from meet to meet.  There are sometimes layouts in the dealer halls (when there are no vendors to use the space).  The layout hall (Black Hall) is also open to the public.

Sounds like the Eastern Division really needs to update it's Facebook page (and probably it's website), to clarify. An interested party shouldn't have to come here for clarification. (Not that they didn't receive the help they needed)

How crowded is York on Saturday now that the show is open to the public?  I used to go every time, but was frustrated as work/kids kept my attendance to Saturday.  Between vendors/tables that were covered when the meet opened and others packing up early, I felt somewhat cheated.

I didn't notice a difference in the member halls (my tables are in Blue Hall).  Clem's Primer for this coming meet states that the "public" admissions for last York totaled around 600.  For someone that can only go Saturdays, the additional 2 hours that the dealer halls are open should be of some benefit.

Yes, the information you presented was inaccurate. You neglected to mention that a first time visitor can be admitted to all halls by registering as a guest.

You don't seem to miss an opportunity to portray the meet in a negative light.

What are non-members missing by being restricted to the dealer halls?

Where are the manufacturer's representatives?
Where are the commercial dealers?
How many square feet of booths are there in those dealer halls?

What is it they cannot see in the member halls? ....... private party exchanges from one TCA member to another.
