Can't speak for anyone else but the art in these scenes has definitely changed the way I planned to do the scenery on my layout.

1) Use of ballast, rocks and plants are a must unless it's a city scene.

2) My telephone poles need telephone wires. Wires make a HUGE difference.

3) Backdrops -- even simple ones -- are really good at fooling the eye and brain.

4) Real 3R parts like wires, wheels and trucks can be weathered and included to good effect.

I like MR Paul's idea of somehow bundling all of these into one book or file. They are great resource and offer a level of variety that I haven't seen in magazines or books on scenery.

Art....I believe that there are a couple of folks sitting on the front table of the White Castle.  Looks like the picture I took didn't get them in view and the rear table is empty!!  Well...maybe most folks took those sliders home to eat!!  I remember as a kid when we would drive to WC and order a dozen and take them home...boy does that bring back memories!

Now that is cool I had one custom done too but mine is straight with the ability to have a train run lengthwise under it too .

Roger is a friend of mine, this is somewhat of a prototype inspired by some tables he built with legs that looked like the arched bridge. This was custom made to fit my layout it sits atop my roll out section.

Took me a while to get a decent shot of this. The iPhone is not much of a camera.

Another generator this time on the north side of the layout. I bought two of these on line unpainted then coated with reefer yellow paint and dusted with some of that liquid rust stuff and wiped. I like the look. The figure (Gus) is MTH and they usually show him petting a dog in the catalog. No dogs in his scale yet so I have him checking the fuel barrels next to the generator with a PRR ore car towering in the background. The label on the barrels is Penzoil -- of course.

Don't know if that's what she was designed for but all the guys on my layout would love to meet that blond wiping down the picnic table. Do you have her phone number?

AS I mentioned earlier, I started in this thread with a few from 2007, moved to '08 and '09, and am now using 2010.  It's the only option that I have, having only a Christmas layout.

But they were vignettes, which is the topic, so I feel OK posting them.

Oh don't get me wrong Walt . . I think that's pretty amazing that these are all from different Holiday layouts. And of course they are a perfect fit for the topic!

I've had good luck with TreeFrogTreasures. They carry W. Britain, King and Country and most of the other die cast figure collections. Most of these are considered 54mm size, so they don't come up in an "O'Scale Figure" Google search. Instead, try 54mm figures for other manufacturers. I've had good experiences with HobbyBunker and SierraToySoldiers as well.

Two different vignettes: Earl's Oil with Texaco products. A Bar Mills kit.

BBC Brewery-Blake, Brody & Corbin, my three grandsons! I think this was a Walther's kit. The crew is taking a break while kegs full of beer are loaded on the trucks. That Milwaukee Road Boxcar has hatches on top for the used grain to be used as animal feed.
