i need help wiring an Atlas 6931 dwarf to an MTH scaletrax turnout. The turnout functions properly, but the dwarf does not change color when the turnout changes position. I have replaced the dwarf thinking perhaps the circuit board, jacks etc were bad but that made no difference. When power is applied to the track, the dwarf displays both red and green momentarily, then continuous green. Changing the dwarf wire connections to the switch machine did not help, in fact that only caused the constant green to change to constant red.

Has anyone experienced this before?

The  #6931 circuit board was designed to work with the Atlas O switch motor which comes as part of the switch or can be purchased separately as part #6099. The design limits it's use to that particular switch motor. It will not operate correctly with any other twin coil switch motor I know of. The dwarf signal itself can be modified or adapted to work as a stand alone using additional wiring and components .

RR, this may be a little late but it is a complete tutorial of how to hook up the Atlas 6931 signal. Go to the Forum sponsor list and find Eric Seigel. He provides a lot of information on different topics. Go to his video section and look for Atlas switch hookup (part 1)and Atlas signals (part 2). Look at part 1 first to see how his test track is hooked up.Then look at part 2 on how he hooks up the 6931 dwarf signals. It is a very in depth and complete tutorial on what you want to know.

Kieran,

You are correct. The circuit board that operates the dwarf signal is not compatible with other switch motors. The dwarf signal itself can be used for other applications using your own wiring plan. The signal itself consists of two LEDs and thee wires, black = common cathode r = red anode and green = green anode.
