I think the LC ones are fed from something other than track power directly, don't know about the LC+ ones.

 

In any case, it's easy to fix that, it's typically just a different resistor.  If you're going to mount one into the locomotive, making it run is the easy part.  I'd probably put an MTH unit in there and hook it to a Super-Chuffer.

 

I put that combination in the K-Line semi-scale Mikado with TMCC, it was a tight fit for the board, but it all fit.

 

 

John, the LC+ uses a control board that is mounted on the motherboard.  The issue is that control board is soldered into the motherboard.  I have worked on many of those smoke units.  I would do it the way you related if I was gibson man.  The fan motor in the LC+ is the one that is headed to you.

What I have is the first Gen version...conventional only...so thinking about cruise and smoke...has sound in tender, although would not exactly sync. ..but not necessarily a big deal. Have looked online at parts...lots of lionel stuff seems to be backwards compatible...for instance, thinking fan smoke could be easily added to a lionel conventional turbine using parts from recent production, or maybe the century edition...just have to look through the parts list..so many ideas...so little money...

Your call but a lot of work and a few bucks.  The new LC+ is a fantastic product with all the toys.  Sales will be showing up after Christmas.

Art, I have only hit one bad one.  I have hit my share of fan motors.  The LC+ is a good product.

  The reason I asked, the Hudson I have worked for a short time then quit.  I jumped switch, nothing, fan works when fed direct.
