A while ago Gunrunner John was in the process of developing a Chuff Synchronizing circuit that read stripes on the motor flywheel.
What happened to this project?
I was/am looking forward to using it if it ever becomes available.

The final product is still in development, the last time I talked to him (maybe a month ago). He does have working boards and is installing them on engines he's upgrading. I'm sure he will be done soon and they will be up for sale sometime this year.
I'm waiting on manufacturing to give a slot to produce the boards. The design and software is finished, just have to get actual product. I hand assembled some to use in my upgrades, and to get some miles on the design. So far, they've worked flawlessly, so I just need to get production quantities and you'll see them offered on the Henning's Trains site. There will be a product announcement at that time.
glad to see your projects come to life for others to enjoy. Any news on the sound board project you had started a while back? That is the one of most interest to me

The sound board is a bigger project, but it's in the pipeline. I have prototype hardware, but I don't have software yet.
I wonder if we will be able to record actual loco sounds on that board. The generic Lionel sound are becoming boring.

Agreed strongly. As I always say, Lionel using an analog system for Legacy was a big mistake, everything is "hard wired" and cannot be changed without physically switching a sound card. Once again, another reason why I'm switching to HO or N.

Congratulation on your Chuff Synchronizing circuit. Do you have video of it in action that you can post? Did the the train at your table at York have that system install? I am following sound design with great interest, looking forward hearing about that progress as well.
No videos, but it's fairly simple in concept. I just reads the tach strip and generates chuff pulses, not much to see on a video. The Reading T1 that I had at York did have the optical encoder installed.
