I am aware that there are a Premier and  RailKing versions of an AS616, and perhaps a new Proto 3 new version. I'm a stickler for details even when they are not prototypical and so I want a version with lighted marker lights and number boards. I'm quite sure the RailKing version would not have these but I asked about an old Proto 1 Premier version that is offered on line and the seller says that the number boards and marker lights are lighted. I am suspicious that this is incorrect. Anyone know for sure?

The PS1 engine does not have lighted number boards on either end. It has unlighted markers on both ends, but they have red lenses. It has been a while(2005) since I upgraded mine to PS2, but I believe I mounted a white LED behind each marker and powered it via front & rear headlight on opposite ends thru a resistor. There is a small slot inside on each corner that allows light into the red lenses. Since all the lenses are red, only the rear will be lighted. I could not find a way to remove the lenses and replace them with the proper LED's. They appear  to be glued in.

Hope this helps.
