Would like to try going myself sometime. It's a long way and the expenses would probably ruin my train budget, but just the experience might be worth it. Meeting some of the forum members would be a big plus as well. 

If you have time after the York show go over to Strasburg railroad in Lancaster County.

There's plenty to do in Strasburg.

I think that staying on the grounds in an RV is the best way to go.
Last time I did, there were coin operated showers available. Bring plenty of quarters. I did not see any coin changers.

There was a supermarket in walking distance from one of the gates.

I agree with Lee; give yourself some extra time to see the train related programs in Strasburg; The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, National Toy Train Museum, Strasburg RR, and the Choo Choo Barn.

So, for RVers who won't be towing a street-legal 'dingy', or have a Segway tucked in the 'basement', how far away is the Quaker Steak & Lube from the fairgrounds?  Short walk?  Hike-and-a-half?  Shuttle bus available? 

Anyone know the address of the Quaker Steak & Lube so we could Google-Map something for the situation room?

Delighted you will be coming to York.  It is quite an experience that can't be duplicated anywhere else in our hobby. Looking forward to meeting you and hope you will find time to come to the OGR Grandstand Meeting at 2 PM on Friday.

Thank you for all the well wishes.  Will definitely be by the OGR booth.  Am looking forward to seeing all I can while I'm there, (within limits )  We have mapped out the meeting locations, not feasible to do with the motor home, but it seems York has a bus system, so may be able to make use of that.  Have gotten my badge and counting the days!

not a terrible walk, but a bike would work nicely.  as long as you are making a road trip, you should stop by the NJ Hi Railers layout in NJ before you head home.

+1, but I'd suggest that if one has flexible travel plans, Wednesday before the meet (and possibly Thursday morning) is a good day to do those places.  I think the only reasons (for someone without a table/booth) to be in York itself before Thursday is if you are trying for the bandit meets or the DCS dinner on Wednesday evening (not that those are not good things to attend, they are! )

Probably not applicable to Cheryl this time since she stated RV'ing with a coworker.

We are back in the Motor Home relaxing.  Wow!!!  I'm worn out just from the walking, lol.  Found some goodies, met some voices and now have faces.  Great experience.  I only saw two strollers and walked one aisle the wrong way,   Not sure when I'll make it back, but have had a lot of fun.  We'll leave around 10am tomorrow to head home, after the coffee and donuts

Once you're back home, rested, and settled-in, may we hear some of your impressions of this York?

Impressions... hmmmm.  Big!  Lots and lots of interesting things to see.  For the most part people were courteous and friendly.  I have attended venues of this sort in the past, so it was not as surprising as it could have been.  There was far more other scale stuff there than I would have expected.  I attended the DCS meeting/dinner, but was unable to get to any other events.  I hope to be able to do that if I get back again.  Overall, it was fun, pleasant, (especially the weather) and something to look forward to in future.

Hi Cheryl!

Boy it was great to see you at the meet, but I'm sorry I only had the little time I had to stay with you and talk.  PLEASE come back.  I promise I'll make more time to take you around to some of the things you may not have seen.  It got so busy for us at the O Gauge Railroading booth, mostly due to the new video we had that people had long wanted, so my time got very limited.  Loved your new hair style!

I have attended the O gauge convention in Chicago at McCormick Place and a couple other Manufacturer Conventions in other industries, again, at McCormick place.  Plus I've been to the train show at DuPage a couple of times.

It was good to see you again.  Not sure when I'll make another one.  Logistics just happened to mesh well for me this time.  I'm glad to hear you had a busy meet, this is good, right?  I had a pretty good tour guide in Ken and Deb, with whom I work, and I'm pretty sure we hit the most of the show.  Dan and Barb Waggoner treated me to dinner at the Eagle's Nest and that was a lot of fun.  Maybe another time I'll have some wheels so I can get around more, but otherwise it was a great time.

Well Cheryl I was still surprised at your answer about York. I have been to several 2 and 3 rail conventions, excluding outside activities none compared to the shear volume of York.
