Like the part where Mike talks about the 990s being del.....
That's right on all counts - plus the media is not only non-linear it's non-visual as well. Eric Siegel's reviews hold my attention throughout partly because of his deft use of a green pointer to home in on a high definition image of his latest engine, and then he runs that engine right before your eyes. H*ll, I'm even interested when I already have that engine! What is effectively a radio show simply can't have that visual impact.
I understand the "Just the facts, ma'am" school of thought but Derek's podcasts are a real boon to someone like me who doesn't get to the meetings/conventions. Hearing straight from Lionel staff what is over the horizon in terms of products is much better than reading someone's second-hand written report of what they said. I thought some of the comments were carefully weighed so as not to induce unrealistic expectations.
