Scale University Royal Houses

Having built those I had exactly the same experience you did. Wanted more but couldn't find them. Unfortunately, Scale University is gone as are their house kits. A number of other manufacturers make small house kits like Banta Models, BTS and maybe American Model Builders. You could even take some MTH or Model Power houses and if you're good at painting and weathering, get some credible neighborhood housing. Frankly, the best solution I've found is that if you've built these Scale University kits you're more than qualified to do small houses from scratch. They are among the simplest structures to build and you already know the techniques. Just get some clapboard siding (Northeastern Scale Lumber, Micro-mark, etc), some windows and doors from Tichy or Grandline, acetate for windows, card stock for roofs and very little design imagination and you're good to go. I'd start with a simple rectangular structure and later you can go to to adding details like porches, attached garages, making L-shaped houses, dormers, etc. I've built whole neighborhoods like this, in some cases taking design ideas from real houses in my area. You've basically done all this with the kits, so it's not much more complicated to cut the parts to your liking. Very satisfying too. Good luck!

Thank you for your advice . It is time that I venture into the scratch built world. I have used materials and supplies that you have mentioned. To have an original building is a natural progression in this hobby. Another cliff to approach and succeed. I will share when I get my first result. Maybe this winter when my wife, my CFO, are in Florida, I will take the leap.

 I miss Scale University and an excellent source of models. Jerrman, your response was so helpful and is appreciated for my first post. As soon as I learn to post pictures of my layout I will share. This hobby has turned into a passion for the both of us.

Bob, Many of the Scale university kits were actually made by others.

Bob, while it's true that Scale U. had some collaborations with other manufacturers (like Blairline) they did not have any arrangement for those houses. Scale U. was the only maker for a limited time before they closed down. I still feel your best best from a cost and satisfaction standpoint is to do some scratch built houses. You'll really enjoy the experience.
