Very nice, Alan!  I've decided to build a new diorama/photo-shooting stand. Although I really like the one I use now, it's not quite large enough to photograph multiple engines, or short train consists.

As you will see below, there's not much to look at so far, but I'll post photos here as work progresses.  It will probably be a slow build as "train work" is now competing with yard work ...and golf season !!

There will be at least one (maybe two) elevated mainline tracks in the background, with a few yard tracks--including a "team" track--in the middle and foreground.  I've been playing around with a few different track configurations.

So far, I've cut to size and glued together two pieces of 1" pink foam to form a sturdy 2" thick base.  I painted the edges and top surface with a brown colored latex paint.  The edges are really all that matter as the top surface will end up completely covered with track & scenery materials.

I also cut to size a sheet of 1/4" thick MDF to form the base for the background.  I added two strips of pine to the back side of the MDF to add some rigidity, and glued the "northeastern U.S. hillside" backdrop to the front side.

That's it for now as I'm waiting for a shipment of scenery materials to arrive.
