TMCC Locomotives Run but no Smoke

plus the smoke switch needs to be in the on position even under TMCC control.  G

I didn't but I will give it a whirl. I did have the switches to the on positions. Thanks so much.

The reset worked, it took a couple of tries but it worked.  There was a problem though in the dummy unit, the funnel has a pin the keeps it high enough to meet the roof.  the pin was too long and kept hitting the fan and stopping it a little snip and it fit in there and now works great.  The lead smoke unit work but may need replacing as it doesn't seem to blow the smoke out as hard as the other one. 

The exact Lionel model would be a big help here.

These were made in 2002 6-14536, I bought them used so who know what kind of shenanigans the original owner was up too as it was also missing the engineer. I know the recommended a modification to some of the older TMCC smoke units but I am not sure if this is one of them.

That model has the voltage regulator, or at least it did when it left the factory.  The mods of enlarging the intake, removing the sleeve, etc. would probably still apply.

Thanks, I have removed the sleeve but I have not enlarged the hole.  Are these supposed to have some sort of gasket, I opened the one up and it did have a gasket? On the dummy smoke unit it didn't have a brass piece on top either. Did they come from the factory this way or was the previous owner messing with it?

Not sure about the gasket, but open up the hole! Old hot rodders trick applies to smoke units as well, more air in, more air out!
