Can you assemble kits? American Standard, Walthers and probably a few others make kits for wood sided passenger cars.

Only wood side pass car kit maker that its still in operation as far as I know is LaBelle. Good quality kits that may test some, but with patience can build up to be exceptional.
Well bought a couple of LaBelle kits, will see how it goes. Al B
If you take your time with them and with some careful planning, I think you'll be very happy with the results. I built two and they are my favorite rolling stock.
I built one LaBelle combine, kitbashed into a coach/caboose, and found it a nice kit,
but you will have to chase trucks and couplers....
