I have a MTH DD40ax. It has ps1 and since I have converted my layout to DCS operation, it sits on the shelf. I want to know what do some of you think about having it converted to PS3 or would it be better to sell it and buy a new one with PS3? Are conversions as reliable as a new one?

Just my opinion but, I would try and sell it purchase a PS2 version.

Would you do the upgrade yourself?
That would help determine if it's a good value. I do like the upgrade kits. They are the same exact quality boards that are in the engine.
What I usually figure in is if the newer engines have better details and features.
I have upgraded a several times and think it might have been better to buy the newest version in some cases. I'd like to get one of the new steamers with smoking whistle.
I have an older MTH 2rail diesel on my bench that will be upgraded because I need it as a helper.
