Good Luck! You may have to "roll your own" with several Williams Shark Body shells [need one A & B to make one A shark body] and some PA-1 six wheeled trucks.
Yeah I know! I've scoured the Internet looking for one. There is none to be bought. This is the one engine I've always looked back on. Im kicking my self in the rear for not buying it when I had the chance. The real kicker is that I only live 25min away from the Weaver factory in Northumberland, Pa. (former factory). I've purchased a lot of stuff from Joe. But this is the one that got away............
Jerry....I was fortunate enough to find a pair right here on the OGR Forum through a want to buy post just like you are doing. I paid just about what they sold for when introduced. The pair was weathered which I really didn't like particularly but after getting them, they looked just fine. Then, during the April 2015 York, I found a pair (un-weathered!) in the Red Hall. The nice gentleman that had them gave me a FANTASTIC price! Funny thing is it was at the end of the meet and no one else seemed to see them for some reason..?? He had just about all Lionel with this big black Weaver box sitting in the middle...don't know how everyone missed it in that "sea" of orange! Good for me!!
Alan
Alan,
I would definitely take a pair off your hands (weathered or un-weathered) let me know!
PS. Please don't make me beg for it!
Jerry....I almost sold the weathered pair but then decided to hang on to them a little longer....
By the way, I talked to Joe at Weaver a few months before they closed and asked about the production numbers for the BP-20's. It seems that not very many were produced. Joe mentioned that he thought around 32 of the units I own. That seems pretty low but perhaps someone knows the exact number...??
Alan
Alan,
I figured it was a pretty modest number. I can't find anything online except for a couple of sold auctions. I heard through the grapevine that Eric Seigel may be selling some older engines off to make room for new arrivals. He did a review video on one a couple of years ago. I don't know how to get ahold of him directly so I asked Stu Gralnik to forward a link to this thread to him. Stu does some model building work for him. I figure it's a long shot, but hey. It may work. So I'm crossing my fingers. But in the meantime if you change your mind on that weathered set, let me know!
Jerry
I get asked about that BP20 all the time, because a lot of people want it. Unforunately, I don't have engine anymore. It was a loaner from Weaver and I had to give it back when I was done reviewing it. Sadly they didn't let me keep it.
I am about to sell some older engines of mine to make room for newer stuff, so look for a post on my facebook page about that...and I'll probably post it here as well.
Thanks,
Eric Siegel
Buuuuummer
Ok Eric, when you get the email from Stu just disregard it.
The search continues!!!!!!
I know at one point in time, Weaver had plans for a second run of the BP20, but it didn't happen.
Good luck on your hunt.
George
