We where out travailing in Pennsylvania yesterday and we came a crosses a caboose motel an we just had to stop and see what it was like. We went in the office and they gave us a pamphlet and it describes the train rides they give and so on. They have 21 cabooses in all with different road names you can pick the one you would like to spend the night in. It is in Titusville Pennsylvania their address is 409s. Perry Street Titusville, PA. If you are interested you could call 814.676.1733 and they also have a website www.octrr.org cheek it out it is very cool. Just had to share because it was cool!!!

Does each caboose have a flush-toilet and a shower?

Yes, all the caboose rooms have a toilet, shower and they all come with two beds and their own separate ac and heater controls.

To add to what Paul/Matt posted, the Oil Creek and Titusville RR has the only working Railway Post Office (their claim, not mine) in the U.S.  Last time I was there, one of the souvenirs I bought was a OC&TRR postcard which I mailed to myself from the train. I wrote to myself "I wish I was here."

While in the area, for history buffs it is worth it to visit Drake's Well.  I would do this after the train ride.

Nice train!  Al would be proud!

Yes, Jagr's first season was '90-'91 the first season the Penguins won the Cup.  That was my favorite season.  I have followed the Penguins since they came into the league in '67 After the Pittsburgh Hornets won the AHL Cup that spring.  It took them a long time to get good.  The Islanders came along in '72 if I'm not mistaken, and it didn't take long to get to the dynasty.  Jaromir certainly has enjoyed a long career!

Spectac, you me to take this photo of a custom car by Thom Shepler aka Doc, that I won at an open house the night of the 2014 Winter game at Soldier Field.  The Black Hawks won.

The Red Caboose Motel along the Strasburg Rail Road is cool, too. ...

And Thank you, ReadingFan, for that interior view of a caboose. It reminds me of how motels used to be back in the 50's, and even into the 60's, in places, when they were a half dozen, more or less, of little separate cottages/shacks (depending on your viewpoint) lined-up in a row, chaperoned by a slightly larger "house" as the office.

I'll pass on this experience.

The answer to the question I posed here concerning the relevance of photos I took on a recent sojourn to Upstate NY, like this cropped view, is that deep inside that foliage is a railroad track, on which I have seen Susquehanna engines pulling trains. The track runs along the Tioughnioga River. The photos were taken south of Cortland, NY.

These photos show the railroad track emerging from the trees at a crossing with Rt.11.

That stack of RR-ties was something I had never seen previously, at least, not to that extent, so I am sharing it here for you modellers, too, to take note of.

FrankM.

Thanks again to all who engaged in this hobby-related conversation with me.

P.S. And, yes, Spence, you were right. I take such photos for my and, perhaps, my fellow hobbyists' modeling purposes.

Hi MOONSON,
Every year we go passed this set of tracks on our way up to fish for salmon in Pulaski NY.  I can remember a few years ago on this very stretch of tracks was a work crew and with that crew was a red bobber caboose.  Wonder if you know anything about this?  I was to far away to catch a name on the caboose.

Hi Laz57, my i-phone with which I took those shots, places that RR-crossing in Barker, NY, south of Marathon. I did not have occasion to see any work crews or "bobber" caboose there, but I'll be attentive for such a scene now that you've mentioned it. I find the whole area very restful to visit.

When I got out of the car to take the photos of that stack of ties, a strong-but-pleasant (to me) aroma (tar?) emanated from all those ties, in the mid-day August sun. I liked that - kind of a bit of "local color".

Made some progress on the layout backdrop.  I was finally was happy with my drywall seams, so it's time to prime!  The PPG paint store was nice enough to tint the primer in one of the blue shades I'll use for the sky.

It's nice to be making progress!

While on the way to the paint store, we stopped by the B&P shop in Butler, PA.  A recently-painted Connecticut Southern GP38 #2011 was outside in a consist with B&P 1401 and 1513.
