For modern diesels MTH is the only game in town. Outside of a rare offering from omi,that's it. Atlas doesn't have anything newer than the dash 8, and they haven't delivered much to the market in the last few years.
MTH delivers to 2rail locos every couple months.

Which Atlas modern locomotive offering were you referring to? I almost exclusively buy their modern 2-rail freight cars but I don’t think they import any modern locomotives. The most modern locomotive they offered were the GP60 & Dash-8, nothing newer than that unlike MTH who had imported multiple runs of the SD70ACe, SD70M-2, Dash-9, AC4400CW, ES44AC & ES44DC.

anything that is running now. I had some fairly modern MTH 3-rail diesels, SD60s, SD90s, SD70 and got rid of all of them. I am not into the modern electronics, sounds, or circuit boards and traction tires. I now buy exclusively 2-rail. It is what you like, and I like the big steamers and earlier diesels.

The real issue is that whether you like modern or older diesels, Atlas manufacturers and brings them to retail very sporadically. They are a low-volume manufacturer compared to MTH.
